Who is the Vintage Wedding Singer?
Simon Partridge has been entertaining audiences with his unique act of songs from the 1920s, 30s and 40s for almost a decade, but his professional performing career stretches back over twenty-years. He studied drama in London and worked as an actor before turning his talent for singing into a full-time job.
His love of early twentieth century songs began when a friend gave him a CD by Matt Monro. Dubbed “the British Sinatra” Monro recorded in the 60s and 70s, but sang many standards from earlier decades. From there Simon began to trace lines back to artists such as Al Bowlly, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday who originated those songs. These singers became Simon’s inspiration for the act he now performs.
“The songs I sing have stood the test of time because they take that most vital of human emotions, love, and express it with such eloquence and simplicity that it’s impossible not to be moved and uplifted by them, “ says Simon.
“And I get to share these beautiful songs with people on the happiest day of their lives. Is there a luckier man alive?”
